So Sad
Karmelo Anthony & Austin Metcalf
How was a young boy raised to feel justified/compelled to stab someone for 1 push.
Then again what parents abandon their son during sentencing and victim statements
Prior to the Incident (Behavior Leading Up)
• Anthony entered the Memorial High School team tent (belonging to Metcalf’s rival school) to escape the rain. Witnesses described him as an individual athlete or from another school with no authorization to be there.
• Multiple students (from Memorial) repeatedly asked him to leave—estimates ranged up to 15 times. He refused.
• Witnesses testified Anthony was verbally aggressive and provocative:
• He said variations of “I’m not leaving, fuck you all,” called the students “a bunch of pussies” who “weren’t going to do nothing,” and taunted them.
• He kept his hand in his backpack and repeatedly warned/threatened, “Touch me and see what happens” (or similar: “Touch me and find out,” “Move me. Make me.”), while implying he had something in the bag.
• This exchange lasted roughly 2 minutes. Witnesses characterized Anthony as the aggressor who escalated the verbal confrontation.
Up to and During the Stabbing
• Austin Metcalf (and initially his twin brother Hunter) confronted Anthony and told him to leave the tent. Metcalf reportedly tried to act as a leader.
• After the repeated threats, Metcalf pushed or shoved Anthony (accounts vary slightly on exact contact—shoulders, grab to move him, or push to get him out—but all describe non-lethal force, not a severe beating or gang-up).
• Anthony immediately pulled a black pocketknife from his backpack and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest (a wound experts called unsurvivable).
Overall context: “You people hang your hat on the dumbest [expletive] I’ve ever seen. Let me make something racist up so y’all can go viral. I got a new name for Melo, okay? Because he was such this little boy y’all were trying to portray. How about watermelon felon? How’s that one strike you?
