Defining Hurricane Strength as the sum of the square of wind speeds over the life of a Hurricane captures both the power and the duration of a hurricane.

NOAA has hurricane data from 1851. It includes wind speeds every 6 hours.

Above is a graph of the strength of every Atlantic hurricane.

There is no trend in hurricane strength.
